Good wine can only be made with good grapes
In the winery, the philosophy is the same. The grapes (Négrette, Syrah and Bouysselet) are harvested at perfect ripeness and receive special attention from Frédéric and Anne, with concentration and balance as their main concern.
Frédéric Ribes understood one thing perfectly: good wine can only be made with good grapes! His rigorous academic background (mathematics, biochemistry, oenology) has produced a true winemaker-farmer, one of those who allow the land to express itself fully.
As president of the appellation's winegrowers' association, he has succeeded in exporting Fronton wines and championing Syrah, which, on the unique soils of the Roc, reveals the same qualities as the great Syrahs of the Rhône.
Anne Ribes, Catherine and Frédéric's daughter, joined Grégoire in 2016 after completing her studies in viticulture and oenology. She gained her first winemaking experience during an internship in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which sparked her passion for winemaking.
From the very beginning, she assisted her father, from vinification to blending. In recent years, their partnership has set the standard: the wines are accomplished, with fine, silky tannins and perfectly balanced concentration.

At Roc, Négrette thrives in gentle infusions and long aging processes, yielding wines with floral aromas and silky tannins, as well as structured, age-worthy reds. An indigenous grape variety of Southwest France, Négrette boasts a rich and varied aromatic profile. Highly distinctive, it constitutes at least 50% of the red wines of the Fronton AOP, when it is not vinified as a single varietal.
Bouysselet, a native grape variety, had almost disappeared. For the past few years, Fronton winemakers have been grafting and replanting it to create a Fronton Blanc AOP. A natural cross between Plant de Cauzette and Savagnin, Bouysselet is a late-ripening variety that maintains beautiful acidity throughout its maturity. In the cellars of the estate, it takes on all its elegance thanks to aging in wood, carried by its natural tension which makes it a great white wine grape variety.
